Thanks for your interest in The Lady Tradies Australia
Below is a little more about us, what we do, why we do it & how we can help you!
OUR MISSION is to:
Promote, Support, Connect & Encourage Women & Girls in Non Traditional roles and Trades.
OUR AIM is to
• Increase employment opportunities for women in trades and non-traditional roles
• Creating more work for Lady Tradies and/or their employers
• Providing a network of support and encouragement
• Assisting with information on apprenticeships, employment and training
• Promoting and encouraging females in non-traditional roles and the trades
• Obtaining trade discounts and sponsorships for their benefit
• Providing the community an alternative to the 'traditional male tradesperson', by having the choice to use a Lady Tradie instead.
WE DO THIS BY:
PROMOTING:
We promote existing Lady Tradies who are employed, or run their own businesses, to Industry, Business, & the General Public. Through research, we found there is very little knowledge that Lady Tradies (or Women in Trades) even exist & the connection between them to the general public is almost non existent. By promoting them, we will create more work for those companies that employ a Lady Tradie & certainly more for those struggling to run a business of their own.
It provides people with a choice to use a female to do work in their home or business as they require.
SUPPORTING:
Many Lady Tradies struggle to be recognised within the building and construction industry or the community as a whole. We provide advice, guidance and direction to those seeking help with certain issues they may face, job placement, apprenticeship information and more. We attend (or run) industry style information sessions to create awareness and support to those within, or seeking to enter a trade or non traditional role.
CONNECTING:
Our Facebook site provides a great deal of interaction on any number of issues or advice. We connect people, places, companies, training, apprenticeship centres and more, with advice to both existing, potential and future Lady Tradies. Our website also provides this long needed interaction furthering the promotion of women in trades and non traditional roles.
A major part of our website is Positions Vacant.
Here a host of small employers and large organisations post the current roles they have available now (or coming up). Its a way for companies to advertise that they're open to diversity and balancing their workforce. Advertising here shows those female applicants they will be not just accepted, but welcomed into the workplace and treated fairly.
ENCOURAGING:
We get numerous direct emails & messages through Facebook from women looking for apprenticeship advice, connections, information and more - and I can happily say I respond to every single one of them. It excites me to think that a school leaver or mature age women is thinking of taking on a non traditional role, and has the courage to reach for their dreams. We connect them to various other organisations, RTO’s, GTO's, State Training Depts and companies we know may be hiring or open to Lady Tradies.
FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC & COMMUNITY:
If you wanted to use a Lady Tradie (rather than a male), how do you find them? Before now it was a battle!
We are the link between you and the numerous Lady Tradies that are currently running their own business or working in their various fields. On this site, you can search to Find a Lady Tradie in your state and area for all those renovations, repairs or general work around your home or business as required.
All the things you would use a general (male) trades person for – but now you have the choice of using a female instead.
All Lady Tradies (where required) are fully trade qualified and have experience in their field. If they are still an apprentice - they work under the supervision of a qualified tradesperson.
Why Lady Tradies?
You'll feel comfortable talking openly to your tradie without feeling silly. Ask anything you like, they'll cut the jargon and talk to you in simple terms, taking the time to understand your wants, needs and budget for your individual project.
Welcome to the new world of being a fully satisfied customer with your own Lady Tradie!
The site is not only for females, there are many great men out there that support the Lady Tradies concept, as well as businesses, community groups, and Government departments, so feel free to join us.
We work with numerous professional groups such as the: MBA, MTA, CAMS, MAAP, ABBTF, NAWIC, & many industry groups such as: Farming, Technology, Mining, Oil, Gas, Construction & numerous associated Trade companies.
The NSW Government through Women NSW supports the The Lady Tradies Australia, 'Women, Work, and the Web' project. Their support & contribution has literally meant we can take this concept further to help promote Women & Girls in Trades in any way we can. Along with all our other supporters, we greatly appreciate their support.
